2010 Programs and Events

April 17 – Sixth Annual Chinese Auction – This year’s event has been expanded to include over 100 donated items from area businesses and society members. The event continues to grow each year. This year’s event will be held at the Catholic Community Center in Millersburg starting at 1:00 – 3:00pm for bidding with winners announced from 3:00 – 4:00pm. High quality area items worth at least $25.00 each are included. Come join the fun and excitement. Many high end items worth even more, plus many door prizes drawn throughout the day.

April 24 – Historical Society Annual Banquet – Chalet in the Valley - Join us for an evening of updates on society affairs, socialize and a great Historical Fashion Show based on historical characters that lived in the Victorian House and the surrounding area. Registration starts at 5:30 meal begins at 6:00, meeting and fashion show begins at 7:00pm.

May 24 Murray Tunnel Mystery - A program on the research and exploration of the recently rediscovered man made underground structure found in southern Holmes Co. Come and hear what the experts and some test results have hypothesized as to who, what and why the structure may have been built and how old it may be. Holmes County Library May 24 starting at 6:30pm. Due to the popular nature of this program seating is limited.

July 3 – Holmes County Court House 125th Birthday Bash – Come and join us on a walking history tour of our restored county court house. Original blueprints of the court house were found and will be on display for one day only. Come and experience our Historic Downtown July 4th events and celebrate the history of our beautiful courthouse. 1:00-3:00pm

October 30 – Halloween Event and Paranormal Research Results Program – What’s all the ghostly activity at the Victorian House all about? Results of the Central Ohio Paranormal Research Group and other reported sightings will be presented twice during the course of the evening at 6:30pm and 8:00pm. The Victorian House will be open that night for ghostly tours on your own from 6:30 – 9:00pm. There will be a $5.00 charge to tour the house and attend the program. Light refreshments and ghoulish delights will be provided along with other scary surprises. Seating will be limited to 35 people per session. First come, first serve.

Nov. 20 – Dec. 31 – Holiday’s at the Mansion - Victorian House Museum – 28 room mansion decorated by area businesses, and organizations opens for holiday tours. The event has been written up in Victorian Homes Magazine as one of the finest holiday home tours in the country. 

FIRST ANNUAL HOLMES COUNTY ARTISANS FAIR

July 23, 2008
The Victorian House Museum in Millerburg, Ohio will host the First
Annual Holmes Co. Artisans Fair on August 23. The event will be from
1:00pm - 8:00pm.  Area Holmes County artisans will be on site with
representative work and sign their artwork. This is a partnership with
local artisans sponsored by the Holmes County Historical Society in an
effort to promote cultural artist talent.  The following artisans have
confirmed as of the date of this email: 
 
        Bonnie Doty - Acrylics and mixed media in florals and scenery 
        Dave Pratt - abstract organic shapes, mixed media, pastels 
        Don Weisgarber - Original watercolour paintings and prints 
Cheryl Miller - architecture, landscapes, natural subjects
in graphite, color pencils, pastels 
        Vickie Boley - original oils and prints of local scenery 
        Beth Miller - local scenery in watercolor 
  Rob VanNatta - original impressionistic watercolor of local scenery 
        Louise Ritchy - Japanese fish art 
        Brooks Harris - Holmes County Historical Sketchbook 
Jane Bilek (The Pretty Penny Shop) - Gourd Art, painted
furniture, and rocks 
Ian Robinson (Tic Tock Gallery) Clock designs, repair and
horological photography 
 
The artists will be located outside and inside of the Victorian House
Museum and a reduced admission price of $5.00 will get you into the
art show and tour the 28 room mansion. Refreshments will be served on
the front porch and Treavor McDowell will be performing on the keyboard.
Plan to come and enjoy the afternoon and evening as the area artisans
display their unique works of arts. 
This is truly a Holmes County event, as all artisans must create their
own works.  The Historical Society hopes to expand this event and make
it a signature event for Holmes County every year.  This is a great event
to bring the family and enjoy some of the talented people that live

Antique Festival/Millersburg Glass Auction

Major Millersburg Glass Auction Came to Millersburg

On Saturday Oct. 6, 2007, carnival glass collectors from around the country attended a very special auction held in conjunction with the Holmes County Antique Festival. Over 200 pieces, some rare, of the highly collectible Millersburg Glass went up for auction on the court house lawn, bringing some handsome prices and ran from 11:00am - 3:00pm.  Also the Millersburg Glass Special Exhibit was open at the Victorian House Museum with over 150 pieces of Millersburg Glass and Fenton Art Glass. The museum is located just 5 blocks north of the square. The museum had expanded hours during the festival  from 10:00am - 6:00pm on Sat. Oct. 6 and 10:00am - 5:00pm on Sunday Oct. 7.  Admission is charged but includes tour of the 28 room mansion
