Castle Club Card Party

Suffering from cabin fever, or just love to play cards.  The Holmes Co. Historical Society will be offering card parties in their Castle Club located next to the Victorian House. The event will be April 27 from 2-5:00pm. We invite you to form a table for card or board games, call text or email and reserve a space. We have 10 tables available, on first come first serve. Refreshments will be provided. High and low score prizes will be awarded. We hope you will join us to renew old friendships or make new ones. Star Spangled Breakfast

Its that time of year again when all things red, white and blue are celebrated so mark your calendar for June 29 from 7:30-10:00 as the Holmes Co. Historical Society hosts its annual summer Star Spangled Breakfast . Held that the Castle Club Banquet Center with all kinds of patriotic menu items from colorful parfaits, scrambled eggs, mini muffins to sausage, it's all good. The breakfast is by donation and all proceeds go toward society upgrades.   Bring a friend and start your July 4 weekend with a breakfast so to get you going.   The Castle Club is located next to the Victorian House Museum in Millersburg , Ohio

50th Anniversary 1969 Flood.



Who would of thought that it’s been 50 years since the great flood of 1969?  We decided to locate the program in perhaps the community that had the most devastation in Holmes Co. The entire town of Killbuck suffered property loss and loss of life during this epic flood.  The format of the program will start with a flood overview by historians from the Holmes Co. Historical Society and the Killbuck Valley Historical Society.  The Killbuck Valley Museum will feature a special exhibit for the rest of the season on the flood.  A collection of newspaper articles about the flood published by Lucille Lowe has been reproduced as a 50th anniversary limited release.  Only 50 copies will be available for sale for $5.00 that day. The remaining copies will be available at the Killbuck Valley Museum.  The second half of the program is open mic for you to share your flood stories. Bring your photos of the flood to share.   The Holmes Co. Historical Society has recently acquired a collection of color aerial shots taken thru the entire Killbuck Valley including Millersburg and Clark.  So bring your memories, relatives and friends for a look back on one of Holmes Co. worst natural disasters.  Program is free. Donation accepted.

Abandon Holmes Co.

This fascinating program series continues on August 15 at the Holmes Co. Library meeting room at 7:00pm.  The signature past program subjects include: The secret lodge Knights of the Pythias in Millersburg, the underworld of the Old Jail and the Holmes Co. Orphanage.  Presented by site investigators, Mary Tipton, Missy Middleton and Debbie Weaver Kline.  They have gained access to many locations and have a large selection of photographs from each location.  So if you ever wondered what ever happen to these locations and more come and find out with Abandoned Holmes Co.
