Historical Newspaper Library

For those who are researching genealogy to learn more about their family history or interested in past events and local history, we have a historical research center complete with a newspaper collection dating back to 1845, which is digitized and searchable. Plus our research library is filled with the Pop Farber Collection—6,000 pages of local history from 1920-1960—and numerous books on local history.

Navajo Arts and Crafts Movie


Homer Hott was originally a Holmes County native from Holmesville, who went into the motion picture and stage production business. 


In 1954 after studying the Navajo Indian Reservations in Arizona, New Mexico and Utah for12 years he filmed his second educational movie on their lives. Showed the movie in schools and organizations. The movie was called Navajo Indian Arts and Craft.

History of the Millersburg Opera House


The Millersburg Opera House has always been a landmark of interest from the past. This program presented the history of the Opera House from construction to its demise in 1957. Recently discovered advertising reels from 1916 were recently restored, digitized, and presented at the program. Take a step back in time when the elegant opera house, village office, and firehouse were a part of downtown Millersburg. Built in 1890 and demolished in 1957.
